Hello Reader and happy October!

We're heading into the last quarter of the year and there are so many fun celebrations coming up - Canadian Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest and Halloween to name a few just in October. What are you celebrating this month. We're moving house, so it might be that for us.

September: favourite sweets

This orange and poppy seed cake is always a favourite and it's easy to make too.

Some more September favourites;

  • Lemon curd - Best ever recipe for lemon curd, I promise you (side note: I may be biased).
  • Coffee creme brulee - luscious, silky-smooth and creamy, this coffee creme brulee is like a latte in dessert form.
  • Apple crostata - this rustic apple tart is super easy and so delicious.

September: favourite savoury!

These chicken sausage rolls are a delicious twist on a classic.

Here are some more great September savoury's;

  • Teriyaki Glazed Salmon is one we have on repeat in our house. It's a simple dinner, loaded with flavour.
  • Lasagna Stuffed Shells - I love a cosy dinner any time of year and these lasagna stuffed shells are so good. Easier than making lasagna but just as delicious.
  • Soup people, this one's for you. My roasted garlic tomato soup is a favourite I make every soup season. Loaded with flavour and just cosy, delicious.

October over the years

From Caramilk Cheesecake to Curried Sausages to Puff Pastry Blueberry Turnovers and the famous Japanese fried chicken Karaage Chicken.

Black velvet cake - rich, chocolatey and delicious and it's perfect for creating a Halloween party cake.

Everybody needs their perfect roast potatoes recipe and this is mine. I grew up on these. Crispy outside, soft, fluffy inside. I give you all the tips in this post.

This cheesy potato bake is a favourite with so many people. If you haven't yet, give it a try.

Halloween candy apples are fun to make and perfect for a Halloween party.

Soup time!

Calling all the soup lovers - the ones who love it any time of year and those who are lucky enough to be heading into soup season. These are for you.

If I were to beg you to try any soup, it would be this mushroom and cauliflower soup. It's just the right kind of hearty, creamy, absolutely flavour packed and perfect for mushroom lovers.

Favourite reader comments

I say it every month but I mean it - when you share a comment on the blog, it means the world to me. I love to know what you love to make and share and it makes my day to know that one of my recipes has made it's way into your kitchen.

It means so much to hear lovely comments like these;

"Absolutely divine.
I make it ahead of time to let the sauce thicken a bit. Warm up in microwave just before serving.
We love the fact that it’s not too sweet."
Lewis said:
"Insane recipe. Family loved it. Thanks so much for sharing. From the UK. "

If you've read this far, thank you so much for your support. I love creating recipes but I love even more hearing about you making them and sharing them with your own families.
